About

A

Raised in Idaho, Becca was susceptible to the literary and musical arts from a very young age. She began piano lessons with her mother at age 3 and started her short story “portfolio” around age 6. By age 9, she was performing vocal solos and participating in musical theatre and had completed her first piano solo composition.

When she was young, Becca found herself devouring all the stories she could — The Hobbit being her first gateway into true fantasy. From there, she spent many a sleepless night with a flashlight soaking in novels from authors such as Jonathon Stroud, Lemony Snicket, Cornelia Funke, Holly Black, and many more. Thanks to this, during junior high, Becca took on several experimental fantasy novel writing projects of her own.

Becca spent her high school years immersed in music with choir and piano/voice lessons. She attended the All-Northwest Mixed Choir in Bellvue, Washington in 2011 as a senior, where she workshopped with composer/musicians Steven Bjella and Eric William Barnum. During these years, Becca had several original compositions performed by her peers and high school elite choir. As sophomore, Becca began her first successful fantasy novel, Wayward, at 15. All the while, she found herself soaking in the works of Patrick Rothfuss, Terry Goodkind, Robert Jordan, and many more.

Determined to get her college degree quickly so as to get back to her creative work, Becca ended up doing the exact opposite. She attended Boise State University and graduated with three music degrees – BM Composition, BM Piano Performance, and BA Voice, in 2019. Her experience there led her to study and collaborate with composers and musicians Barton Moreau, David Biedenbender, Sam L. Richards, Eric Alexander, and Chris Raynes. She also had the privilege of learning from and workshopping with musicians/composers Jeremy Huw Williams, Tarik O’Regan, Keiko the Alexander String Quartet, and many others.

During her seven years at college, Becca refused to set aside her creative writing and saw several drafts of her fantasy series The Forbidden Heirs completed. The first installment of the series will be available in June 2021 in paperback, hardback, and ebook. Audiobook coming soon!

In her spare time, Becca generally nerds about, gaming with Link and Zelda, movie riffing with Crow and Tom Servo, or sending her human ranger on misadventures on D&D campaigns. She loves all things fantasy, Celtic, and medieval history.
